Writing Prompt – She Focused on That Picture…

She focused on that picture, and she realized that she was alone. It had been a year since she last saw Abe. He promised he’d be back, but what man can have control over what happens in a war.
He left shortly after they met. Even though it was a brief meeting, it was one that she’d remember always as the best moment of her life. Terry had known other men–in more ways than one–but Abe fit the profile for every aspect of a man: a real man. Not only was he charming, strong, six foot two with brown eyes, brown short hair and dimples, he knew how to treat a lady.
There were many nights of wining and dining. Terry remembers one in particular. After dinner, Abe ordered wine. It was her favorite dessert wine with a hint of chocolate. It was also the first time she noticed a quiver in Terry’s toast. It was one for long life and prosperity, but it was also one where she saw a cute, childlike reserve as he slowly got down from the table on one knee. He didn’t realize it, but he almost knocked over one of the passing waiters. (This part of the story Terry never shared with Abe considering he was already nervous and felt a sense of victory after he proposed.) It was easy for Terry to say “yes” to the proposal. She knew this would be the answer the first night that they met. She told Betsy, her faithful four legged companion, about the man that she had just met. She told her that there was something about this man, something different, that drew her towards him, and that she was going to marry him some day. She did in fact–almost marry him.
